42,982 Fresh COVID-19 Cases In India, Marginally Higher Than Yesterday

New Delhi: India today recorded 42,982 fresh Covid cases, which may be a slight increase within the number of cases from yesterday. The country also reported 533 deaths taking the death count to 4,26, 290. The centre has cautioned that the second wave isn’t over.

Here are the highest 10 updates on coronavirus in India:

  1. The daily test positivity rate – number of individuals cases identified per 100 – stands at 2.3 per cent. The recovery rate is 97.37 per cent.
  2. Kerala, which has emerged because the no 1 hotspot within the country, today reported 22,414 fresh cases, which is slightly less than yesterday’s 23,676. The state also reported 108 deaths.Maharashtra, the state with most number of cases within the country, reported 6,126 fresh cases. It also reported 195 deaths.
  3. Uttar Pradesh, the foremost populous state within the country, reported 61 Covid cases and two deaths over a 24-hour period.
  4. Delhi recorded 67 cases of coronavirus in 24 hours today with no related deaths and a positivity rate of 0.09 per cent. this is often the fifth time since the second wave of the pandemic hit the capital that zero deaths were logged during a day.
  5. With 1,087 Covid cases, Mizoram leads the northeastern states with most numbers of cases during a day. it’s followed by Assam (1,065), Manipur (765), Meghalaya (521).
  6. Goa, a hot favourite of tourists, reported 110 Covid cases and one death over one day.
  7. Rajasthan with 18 cases, Gujarat with 15 and Madhya Pradesh with 28 reported zero Covid deaths among the large states. Jharkhand and Uttarakhand also reported zero Covid deaths.
  8. As many as 16,64,030 tests were conducted on Wednesday taking the entire cumulative tests conducted thus far for detection of COVID-19 within the country to 47,48,93,363.
  9. A study conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Institute of Virology (NIV) has found that Covid-19-recovered individuals with both doses of Covishield have higher immunity against the Delta variant.
