Washington: United States on Wednesday launched a new $ 800 million military assistance package for Ukraine, including heavier equipment such as helicopters, howitzers and armored personnel carriers.
President Joe Biden spoke to the Ukrainian partner Volodymyr Zelensky for about an hour at the beginning of the day when Russia focused its efforts to the east, the new front line of the Old War seven weeks.
The Ukrainian military has used weapons that we provide for a great effect,” Biden said.
When Russia prepares to intensify her attacks in the Donbas area, the United States will continue to provide Ukraine with the ability to defend,” he added.
This new assistance package will contain many very effective weapons systems that we have provided and new capabilities that are tailored to the wider attack that we expect Russia launched in East Ukraine.”
Zelensky for his share tweeted that he and Biden have discussed “additional packages of defensive and possible macro-financial assistance.”
New assistance included several heavier equipment which was previously rejected by Washington to provide Kyiv for fear of increasing conflict with nuclear armed Russia.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby released a list of goods in the latest $ 800 million security assistance package for Ukraine.
It includes 185mm Howitzers and 40,000 rounds of artillery, 200 M113 armored personnel carriers, 11 Helicopters 11 MI-17 and 100 armored versatile vehicles.
