The European Union leaders on Thursday gave the coveted status of Ukraine from an official candidate to join their 27-country club, the geopolitical step that was dared to be praised by Kyiv and the EU itself as a “historical moment”. Although it can take more than a decade to finally join the block, the decision to officially accept it as a candidate is a symbol of the EU intention to reach far to the former Soviet Union.

The Moscow Foreign Ministry on Friday blamed the United States of Lithuania’s ban on items sanctions from mainland Russia to Russian Excave Kaliningrad, which had increased high tension between Moscow and the West. “The so -called ‘Western Collective’, with explicit instructions from the White House, imposed a prohibition on the transit of the train from various goods through the Kaliningrad region,” Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on Friday.
