India on Tuesday asked for a “aggressor side” in a new battle along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border to immediately stop hostility” and said bilateral disputes must be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Arindam Bagchi referred to attacks along the border between the two countries and said: “We have seen reports of attacks along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, including the targeting of civilian settlements and infrastructure on 12-13 September 2022. On the aggressor side to immediately immediately stop hostility. “

He added, “We believe that bilateral disputes must be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue. There is no military solution for any conflict. We encourage both parties to hold talks to arrive at a lasting and peaceful solution. “

Armenia said that at least 49 of her troops were killed in battles along the border with Azerbaijan, and that the attack was carried out due to disputes in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

On the other hand, Azerbaijan said his troops replied to shots to prevent “large -scale provocation” by the Armenian military.

Russia said on Tuesday that they mediate the ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan after the battle erupted at the border between the two parties this week. The media in Azerbaijan, however, reported that the ceasefire had been damaged.

Moscow asked the two countries to “refrain from the escalation of further situations, carry out restraints and strictly observe the ceasefire in accordance with the trilateral statements of Russian leaders, Azerbaijan and Armenia on November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021”, according to a statement from Russian Foreign Ministry.

Russia said he acted after receiving an appeal from Armenia’s leadership to “help resolve the situation”.Disputes about Nagorno-Karabakh came from the collapse of the Soviet Union in the late 1980s. This region is controlled by the Armenian ethnicity but is located within the Azerbaijan region. The last two countries clashed in the region in 2020.
