The UAE cabinet, led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president, the Prime Minister and Ruler Dubai, has agreed to the executive regulations from federal decrees about entry and residence of foreigners. The UAE consists of seven Shekhdom, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The new entry and residence system aims to attract and retain global talents and skilled workers from all over the world, increasing the competitiveness and flexibility of the work market and fostering a taste of high stability among the population and the UAE family.
Substantial amendments were introduced to the Golden Residence scheme to simplify the criteria for feasibility and expand the beneficiary categories. This long-term place of residence is given to investors, entrepreneurs, extraordinary talents, scientists and professionals, students and extraordinary graduates, pioneers of humanity and frontline heroes.
Amendments allow gold holders to sponsor their family members, including couples and children regardless of their age, and to sponsor workers (domestic) services without limiting their numbers. Furthermore, no restrictions related to the maximum duration remain outside the UAE to keep the golden residence valid.
There are other benefits for family members who allow them to live in the UAE if there is death of the original golden holder to the end of the duration of their permits.
This residence was given to scientists and researchers with high achievements and influences in their fields based on recommendations from the Emirates Scientist Board.
Candidates must have a PhD or Master degree in engineering disciplines, technology, life science and natural sciences from the best universities in the world, as well as substantial research achievements.
