Tens of thousands of train workers walked out of work in the UK on Tuesday, carrying a railroad network crawling in the largest transit attack in the country for three decades – and potential precursors to the summer of labor dissatisfaction.

Around 40,000 cleansers, signals, maintenance workers and staff staff held a 24 -hour strike, with two more planned for Thursday and Saturday. The intersection of pain for the commuters, the London Underground subway service was also hit by strikes on Tuesday.

Disputes are centered on salaries, working conditions and work safety when the British train struggles to adapt to travel and the habit of traveling – maybe forever – by Pandemi Coronavirus. With the number of passengers who still have not returned to the pre-Pandemic level but the government ended emergency support that made the train survive, the train company tried to cut the costs and staffing.

Sustainable national strikes are not common in the UK lately, but trade unions have warned the country to prepare more because workers face the decline of the worst living costs in more than one generation. Lawyers in the UK and Wales have announced that they will come out next week, while the union representing teachers and postal workers plans to consult with their members about the possibility of action.

The main train station is mostly quiet on Tuesday, with only about 20% of passenger trains scheduled to run. The service will be continued on Wednesday, but the existing disturbance means only about 60% of the train will be operated. Talks between trade unions, maritime and transportation and entrepreneurs will also be continued on Wednesday, although both parties appear to be far apart.

The strike made an employee’s plan trying to start working, students headed for the year -end exam and music lovers to the Glastonbury Festival, which began Wednesday in Southwest England.

The roads in London are denser than usual when passengers turn to cars and taxis. But 27% footsteps are lower than last Tuesday, according to Retail Analyst Springboard, because many people cancel travel or work from home if they can.

Nurse manager Priya Govender is at the London bridge station Tuesday morning, struggling to return to his home in the south of the city after spending the night at a hotel.

I certainly won’t be able to get a bus because they are crowded. I have to get Uber, “he said. “My day was very terrible. This will be a long day, and I still have a full day’s job that must be done. “He plans to work from home, as he succeeded there. The Center for Economic and Business Research Consultation said that three days of strikes could cost economic costs at least 91 million pounds ($ 112 million).

Kate Nicholls, Head of the Hrossal Agency Industry Executive, said that strikes will burden restaurants, cafes and business bars that are needed after two years of pandemic disorders, and “fragile consumer trust will be hit further.”

With inflation currently running 9%, RMT Union said he could not accept the latest train company offer from a 3%increase.

But the train company believes that they cannot offer more, given the current number of passengers. There are almost 1 billion train trips in the UK this year until March – compared to 1.7 billion in 12 months before Pandemi.

While the conservative government said that it was not involved in the talks, the Uni noted that they played a major role in a highly regulated industry, including providing subsidies long before Pandemi, and argued that they could provide more flexibility to railroad companies to offer substantial salary increases in a manner substantial.

The government has warned that a large salary increase will trigger a wage spiral that encourages higher inflation.

Electric engineer Harry Charles said he supported the strikers-even though the train trip was 10 minutes to London Bridge took 90 minutes by bus.
