KABUL: Taliban shot dead the Head of the Media Media Information Center Afghanistan near a mosque in the capital, days after warning they will target senior administrative figures in retaliation for air strikes.
The murder of one of the government’s leading votes followed another bloody battle day in Afghanistan when the war spilled to Kabul for the first time in a few months.
It also came for hours before the UN Security Council met in New York to discuss conflict.
“Unfortunately, the savage terrorist has taken a cowardice once more and Martyred a Patriotic Afghanistan,” said Ministry of Home Affairs spokesman Mirwais Stanikzai about Dawa Khan’s death.
Shows popular in the strict Chinese Media Community, and is known for highlighting the Taliban on social media – even joking at times.
Former President spokesman Sediqqi said he was “really surprised and destroyed”.
“We lost another big soul,” he added.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for death, with spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid sent a message to the media who said “he was killed in a special attack carried out by the Mujahidin”.
The murder came after a guerrilla warned Wednesday more attacks targeting the leaders of the Afghanistan government, the day after Defense Minister Bismillah Mohammad to qualify for murder attempts in bomb-and-weapons attacks.
The Afghan and US military has increased air strikes in their struggle against rebels in a series of cities, and the Taliban said the kabul attack Tuesday was their response.
The fight in the long-term conflict Afghanistan has increased since May, when foreign forces start the final stage of withdrawal because it will be completed later this month.
The Taliban has controlled most of the countryside, and now challenges government forces in several provincial capitals.
