Criminal Minds won the title of most-watched Netflix show in the United States in 2021. That may come as a surprise, given that the program is now on hold, awaiting removal from the service. We’ll look at the future of Criminal Minds on Netflix, how many seasons are accessible for viewing, and why seasons 13, 14, and 15 aren’t available on the service. The police procedural series is one of CBS’s most enduring shows. The US sitcom lasted 15 seasons and 324 episodes, with two spin-offs, but it has only recently gained popularity thanks to streaming sites.
What is the total number of seasons of Criminal Minds available on Netflix?
The rights to Criminal Minds are a little complicated, which is part of why the show’s streaming environment is what it is. The rights are controlled by CBS Television Distribution in the United States, while Disney owns them outside of the country (more on this in a second).
Seasons 1 through 12 of Criminal Minds are available on Netflix in the United States as of January 2022. It does not have access to Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour or Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, which are both inaccessible on a US SVOD provider.
Why isn’t Criminal Minds available on Netflix outside of the US?
Outside of the United States, Disney is the exclusive distributor of the show. Criminal Minds has never been available on Netflix outside of the United States, but with the launch of the Star tab on Disney+, it will be. Not only are all 15 seasons of the main program available on Disney+, but also the corresponding spin-offs Suspect Behaviour and Beyond Borders.
Will Criminal Minds Seasons 13-15 be released on Netflix at some point?
Season 13 ran from September 2017 until April 2018, however it was never released on Netflix. Instead, new seasons are only accessible on Hulu (which has seasons 13 through 15) and Paramount+, which is now the only streaming service that has access to the whole library.
Will Netflix cancel Criminal Minds in 2022?
We projected that the series will end in 2020 a while back, but we were incorrect. Both Criminal Minds and NCIS are likely to depart Netflix forever and become staples on Paramount+, although when that happens is still up in the air. For the time being, despite the lack of evidence, it’s probable that leveraging Netflix (as ViacomCBS has done with shows like iCarly) is driving consumers to switch to Paramount+ for the latter seasons. With that stated, the streaming rights will be up for renewal at some point, and Netflix will almost certainly lose them. It might be months or years before that happens. We just do not know for sure.
